WELCOME TO THE HOME OF ALLISON KNAPP WOLLAM ART

Allison Knapp Wollam is an artist who has been creating welded and mixed-media sculpture, furniture, tapestry, jewelry and multi-media assemblage for over 25 years.  Ms. Knapp’s work is displayed and represented by galleries in Washington D.C., California, Oregon and Australia.  Her works range from 20 foot 450 pound welded sculptures to feather-light fiber pieces, just inches in size. Tapestries extend to 40 feet in length.

The following represents a brief example of  Ms. Knapp’s  sculpture and assemblage taken from a collection of hundreds.  The work is designed and fabricated by the artist; all pieces are one of a kind.  The sculpture is fabricated from mild steel and joined by brazing.  A variety of patinas are applied to the surface.  The “Pod Pieces” and “Power Vestiges” are woven works incorporating a variety of fibers and materials.  Silk, linen, mohair, wool, steel, brass, sea weed, broken mirror, porcupine quills, branches, leaves and orchids are but a few of the incorporated materials.

The works have an animated, living quality that becomes manifest when experienced in person and a kinetic interplay with the environment which creates an ambiance all their own.  Some works are very visceral.

Ms. Knapp has crafted over 100 commissioned works. Ms. Knapp has exhibited her work in 10 solo art shows and 6 group shows.
